Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium Open Day
“Today’s opening of the stadium is a huge credit to the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality. It’s a tribute to their project management capability, the construction company and the workers that they managed to complete the stadium in record time. It demonstrates the capacity of SA’s construction industry and our commitment to deliver on all our 2010 FIFA World Cup promises,” said Jordaan.
The Nelson Mandela Bay’s Deputy Executive Mayor, Councillor Bicks Ndoni, said today’s public opening gave residents the chance to see first-hand the stadium’s “state-of-the-art facilities, experience its beauty, warmth and uniqueness, and bask in the glory and pride of knowing that we are the joint owners of a truly world-class facility”.

NELSON MANDELA BAY AS A FANTASTIC DESTINATION
The Nelson Mandela Bay Metropole consists of Port Elizabeth, Uitenhage and Despatch. There were some doubts expressed about the financing and the timing of such a stadium but, in true Nelson Mandela Bay style, this Host City has surpassed expectations in its own quiet dignity.

Glenville Annual Junior Tournament
The club also runs an annual junior soccer tournament for all the junior age groups, in the first week of the June school holidays. This popular event came about initially when school teachers associated with the club realized that there was a dearth of social activities for school kids, especially from previously disadvantage communities during this period. This leads to exposure to vices such as drugs, alcohol and gansterism that predominate the area. Continue Reading...
